Description: Tied to the updated County Wetlands Inventory 2017. This layer is intended to be a composite of new wetland standards, old wetland (pre-2017) delineations, identified by The Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) staff and the National Wetlands Inventory data. Edits to the data area made using verified wetland reports that have been submitted to and accepted by the Thurston County Resource Stewardship Planning Department. This data was combined with updated wetland delineations, circa 2014, for the Deschutes Watershed Project area (TRPC) and updated with standards provided by the Thurston County Wetlands Working Group. The information from TRPC was created over several years by TRPC, Contractor's, GeoData. All edits and updates are approved by the Thurston County Resource Stewardship Current Planning or Long Range Planning Departments. This dataset was created to inform county staff and the public of where the critical wetland sites were located for planning purposes. Description: Thurston County Hydro/Stream data originated as coverage file representation of the Thurston County hydro network. It included all waterbodies: rivers, lakes, ponds, inlets and streams. The features were digitized by the Thurston GeoData Center from the Thurston Comap, Assessor's Data dated 1990, and Tiger Files using rubber sheeting and aerial digitizing. In 2002-2003 the data was updated along Marine Shorelines using updated Aerial Photography. In 2011 the hydro coverage file were converted into feature class files during which process stream and river data was separated from other waterbodies; large river areas, lakes, ponds, and marine areas. The datasets were renamed to Streams and Waterbodies respectively. In 2014 some minor adjustments were made to both layers in the Lake Lawrence area as the result of LiDAR derived hydro enforced DEM data.

Description: This polygon dataset was derived from a raster dataset that was developed by calculating the maximum rate of change between elevation points that are 3.5ft apart in a 3.5ft digital elevation model grid. This dataset shows sloped areas of 40% or greater along with specified soil types. However, there is no guarantee that such slopes exist within any given polygon in this dataset. This dataset is not suitable for determining the precise location or actual size of areas that are undevelopable due to slopes, but merely the general location of areas where development might be constrained due to steep slopes. Based on visual inspection when laying the dataset over 2011 orthophotos, the steep slope classes appear to be a reasonable representation of areas of steep slope, although these results have not been field checked. Note: This dataset was revised 12/12/2013.

This overlay district shall extend from the toe of McAllister Bluff to a point two hundred feet westerly of the top of McAllister Bluff. The top of McAllister Bluff is so noted on the aforementioned map as "Bluff Line" and lies to the west of McAllister Creek. C. The criteria to field locate the top of McAllister Bluff is a distinct topographic break in the slope less than thirty percent and at least fifteen feet wide which is verified by the Thurston County development services department. 17.15.830 - Nisqually Hillside overlay standards.Any development permit within the aforementioned area shall be subject to the following standards: A. Residential development within this overlay district is prohibited, however, the number of dwelling units, as calculated by the underlying residential zone (one unit per five acres), may be clustered on that portion of the lot not within this overlay district or transferred to an adjacent parcel. No fractional units will be created in this calculation unless the parcel size is less than five acres. B. The western two hundred feet of the Nisqually Hillside Overlay District is a buffer measured from the top of McAllister Bluff except that portion of the bluff between I-5 and Martin Way which shall be fifty feet. C. Some flexibility from subsection B above will be provided for areas of preexisting development along the bluff. These areas include lots less than one acre in size, undeveloped lots in a subdivision, and the portion of the slope between Martin Way and I-5. In those locations the buffer from McAllister Bluff shall be at least fifty feet wide, with the exact location on the bluff determined on a case by case basis through an administrative site plan review process. This buffer width must protect the stability of the bluff and maintain the visual integrity of the hillside.

Description: The extraction process runs every night. If it finds any changes in FloodZones_FEMA, it will update thie feature class.This data reflects the changes FEMA is proposing for the Thurston County DFIRM (Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps) base elevation adjustment. This is the first of several changes to be made to the Thurston County floodzone over the next 5 years. The floodzone boundaries have been adjusted to match the new base flood elevation standard. This change involved transforming the BFE from NAD 27 to NAD 83, which resulted a a shift of several feet.

Description: The purpose of this data is to provide planners with a history of flooding events recorded in the county. This information is compiled using authoritative data and represents the approximate mapped location of documented high groundwater flooding events for the purposes of screening. Authoritative data includes, but is not limited to, the 1997 WA State DOT infrared aerial photography. Beginning in 2016 updates to this layer began, and are in progress, to eliminate shadowing and map high groundwater using digital versions of the 1997 Aerial Photography (not available when the layer was first created) and LiDAR Contour data. All edits are verified by the County Hydrogeologist and Flood Plain Manager before being incorporated into the data. Edits are made on a case-by-case basis as time allows and when discrepancies are found and researched. High ground water hazard areas as defined in the Thurston County Critical Areas Ordinance Chapter 24.20, adopted on July 24, 2012 Or No 14773. 24.20.015 High ground water flood hazard areas – Base flood elevation. The base flood elevation (BFE) for high ground water flood hazard areas corresponds to the elevation of the outer edge of the high ground water flood hazard area. The map entitled “High Ground Water Flood Hazard Areas,” depicts the approximate location of the high groundwater flood hazard area. This data identifies soil types that support pocket gopher habitat and is intended for planning and conservation efforts. Text disclaimer for GopherSoils per Thurston County Planning Department: All soils shown on the Mazama pocket gopher soils map are to be used to determine areas that could potentially be suitable for Mazama pocket gophers and their habitat. The soils are derived from the final Federal Rule regarding the listing of the Mazama pocket gopher, which is on file with the Resource Stewardship Department. This map is a screening tool of where Mazama pocket gophers or their habitat may be present. Ordinance 14478 renews interim regulations to amend the provisions for native outwash prairies and Oregon white oak habitat in Chapter 17.15 of the Thurston County Code for a period of six (6) months to continue to study the issues of native outwash prairies and Oregon white oak in Thurston county and to determine permanent regulations.
